Gillis Fireplace

info
The design joins a living room to a dining room around an existing stone fireplace. Steel sections surrounding the fireplace transform into plates and pivot cabinets of nickel silver at the corner bar, which in turn transform into four planes of walnut sliced from a single tree, which defines a buffet and functional cabinet. The installation was designed to offer multiple modes of composition made possible by altering planes and volumes in space, and clarity of the distinction between intensities of color on the interior surfaces and the more subdued exterior.
